Our guides should help a traveller make a real decision. They give the answer first, explain the trade-offs and link to the sources or businesses that support the useful next step.

Sources and examples

We match each claim to the kind of source that can support it. An official authority or transport operator can support its requirements, timetable or visitor arrangements. A business's own website can support what that business publishes about its service. One supplier's rental policy is not a rule for every rental company, and a destination resource is not automatically an official tourism board.

Named properties, routes and outings are examples when they make a comparison clearer. They do not establish that every similar service has the same features. We identify assumptions behind worked costs or itineraries, so readers can replace them with their own party, dates and route.

Check dates, prices and quotes

An information-check date records when the cited material was reviewed. It does not promise that the information will remain unchanged or that a service is available on a later date.

A published fare, room description or worked budget is also different from a quote. A quote should come from the business responsible for the proposed booking and should identify the dates, people, inclusions, price and terms that matter to that offer.

We keep gaps visible when a reliable source does not settle a consequential detail. Readers should not have to guess whether a time, price or service was verified.
