Where should I collect a rental car in Banja Luka?

The short answer
Collect at the airport if you will drive away soon after landing. If you are spending your first two nights in Banja Luka, the airport shuttle plus a later city collection may avoid two unused rental days and city parking. Price the whole sequence, including the final airport return, before choosing.
“Banja Luka collection” needs an exact address. The airport, a city handover and delivery to accommodation are separate arrangements.
Compare the shuttle with unused hire days
Banja Luka Airport’s shuttle page names Smiljić Company and links the airport with the city centre and new bus station around flight arrivals and departures. The fare displayed on 18 October 2026 was 12 KM per person each way.
For four adults spending two nights in the city before three driving days, the outward shuttle reference is 4 × 12 KM = 48 KM, plus the journey from the city stop to the accommodation. Compare that with two extra rental days and any city parking. Then include each option’s collection arrangements and final airport return; the 48 KM transfer alone does not settle the total.
The airport page does not give a dated departure, exact city boarding point, luggage allowance or payment method. Use the operator link on that page for the journey connected to your flight. If you need to drive outside Banja Luka immediately, airport collection may be the simpler choice even when the daily price is higher.
Know which company you are meeting
The airport’s rental directory lists Avis and CarWiz. Their rental huts are in the car park opposite the main building, and the directory provides a phone number and email address for each. Those instructions belong to those two companies.
If you enquire through Rentacarbanjaluka.com, treat any offer as a separate handover. It is not the airport’s rental directory, and the Avis or CarWiz huts will not handle a different company’s reservation unless your confirmation explicitly says so. A usable offer must name the responsible company, meeting place and booking contact.
Plan a later city collection
For a city handover, provide the accommodation or meeting address and the time your driving begins. Compare it with airport collection using the same vehicle, drivers, equipment and airport return time. If the car is going back somewhere else, settle the fee and procedure with the different-city return questions.
The better option is the one that removes idle rental time without replacing it with an awkward transfer or uncertain handover.
Make the return definite
Save the return address, site access and key-handover instructions. An airport return needs time for the vehicle check as well as the flight. For an early departure, agree who will receive the car and which charges apply; the airport’s general opening hours do not establish a rental company’s return service.
