Arrivals & car-free travel

How should I arrange onward travel after landing at Sarajevo Airport?

The short answer

Take the airport bus when its Baščaršija/Bentbaša route and departure suit your stay. Take a taxi for a direct journey to a specific address. Book a private transfer when you want the vehicle, meeting and price fixed before arrival. Collect a rental car when the airport is the start of a driving trip.

Choose for the whole journey from the terminal to your accommodation, including every traveller and bag.

Airport bus

The airport–Baščaršija/Bentbaša bus is the low-cost place to start if the city stop works for your accommodation. Allow for baggage collection before the departure and plan the final journey from Bentbaša with your luggage.

Route and boarding. The airport’s timetable announcement names Baščaršija/Bentbaša as the city end. An older launch notice describes a signed stop at the Terminal B exit. Follow the current Centrotrans signs at the terminal.

Fare. The airport announcement lists 5 KM for a single ticket to Baščaršija/Bentbaša. The operator’s linked search displays 10 KM for an undated airport–Sarajevo City Center card. The pages use different city-stop names, so do not assume the fares cover the same journey. For two adults, those fares would mean 10 KM or 20 KM in total. Confirm the city stop and price for your chosen departure before relying on either figure.

Luggage and payment. The airport announcement includes the first bag up to 23 kg and lists 5 KM for a second or heavier bag. It says tickets are sold by the driver or through CentroCard. Centrotrans’s general card terms tell passengers buying from the driver to prepare the exact amount, so carry small KM cash.

Departures. Use the airport’s bus page and timetable key for your day. The timetable distinguishes weekday, weekend and daily departures but does not display a validity date.

Taxi

The airport’s taxi information displayed a tariff for Sarajevo-taxi association members dated 30 March 2026: 3.50 KM starting charge, 2.30 KM per kilometre and 5 KM per item of luggage. These components do not form a fixed airport fare and do not establish another operator’s price.

A taxi is useful when Bentbaša would leave an awkward final journey. Give the driver the exact address and account for luggage when comparing it with the bus.

Private transfer

A transfer can suit a group, a child-seat request, several large bags or an arrival where you want somebody expecting you. Before accepting an offer, have the named operator, passenger and luggage capacity, total price, meeting point, contact and delay terms in writing.

You can use AirportTransfers.ba to prepare a Sarajevo Airport transfer request. The request is not a booking; the company carrying you still needs to confirm the arrangement. For wider airport information, see Airports.ba; use the airport and transport-operator pages above for current terminal, timetable and fare details.

The value of a transfer is certainty and door-to-door travel. Compare one complete vehicle quote with the total for your whole party rather than a per-person headline.

Rental car

Choose self-drive when you will continue on a driving trip after landing. Yes.ba’s Sarajevo Airport collection page describes an arrivals-hall meeting arranged with your flight number. Your confirmation should include the agent identification, booking contact, driver and payment requirements, return location and complete price.

If the only planned drive is from the airport to a Sarajevo stay, the bus, taxi or transfer is usually the more direct comparison. A rental becomes useful when it also serves the days after arrival.
