Car hire

Is a van better than two rental cars for our group?

Jump to sections

The short answer

Choose one van when the whole group wants the same route, the offered vehicle fits every person and bag, and an eligible driver is comfortable with it. Choose two cars when people want different plans, you have two eligible drivers, or the van cannot carry the luggage with all occupied seats in place.

For eight travellers with eight medium suitcases, seat count alone does not settle the answer.

Count people and bags separately

Rentavan.ba’s passenger-van range describes its largest seating arrangement as eight passengers plus one driver. The driver is one of your travellers: nine seats do not mean room for nine passengers and another driver.

Now take eight travellers, including the driver, with eight medium suitcases. A nine-seat layout has enough seats, but Rentavan.ba’s listed Renault Trafic Passenger specifies six luggage items and a manual gearbox. That listing does not establish room for eight cases around eight occupied seats.

For two cars, divide the same party into two groups of four and test each car with four bags. Add child seats, pushchairs, wheelchairs, sports equipment and other bulky items to the count.

If you need an automatic, include that in the specification; the Trafic example is listed as manual. Also consider the roads, accommodation entrances and parking you will actually use.

Compare the complete prices

Compare one van with the sum of both car offers for the same dates, route and return. Include fuel allowances, parking, equipment, additional drivers and different-location charges. Check the deposit funds required for each arrangement separately from the rental price.

One vehicle is not automatically cheaper once a larger category, fuel and parking are included. Two cars are not automatically more practical if the group has only one eligible driver.

Send one useful enquiry

Send the passenger and luggage list together. Give case dimensions, and photographs for awkward items, then request the seating and luggage layout that will be supplied. Ask for the gearbox, eligible drivers, collection and return details, complete price and deposit.

Rentavansarajevo.com is a separate Sarajevo van source. Compare it with Rentavan.ba using the same specification and keep each company’s offer, terms and contact details separate.

If the route ends in another city, include the return-location decision in both comparisons. Keep the people-and-bags list beside Rentavan.ba’s passenger-van range: every offered configuration needs to pass that test.
